On the surface,
an Elysium of unsurpassed splendor. Beneath, something sinister lurks...
Sudsaroo *Amber easily picks up the sorry figure lying on the ground with the letter and holds her infront of Eliah. * I think this is yours. -Amber Elijah Robert Marks Elijah takes the envelope hesitantly, then looks at the sprawling form of Lady Amara. Torn, he tucks the envelope into a shirt pocket then bends over to lift/drag Lady Amara into an upright sitting position... checking to see that she's, you know, not dead dead. When he has checked to his satisfaction, he stands, and pulls out the envelope. "Here goes nothing." With shaking hands, he breaks the seal of the envelope, peering at the contents inside... ------------------ Lady Amara "Man, you are on edge. Go ahead open the letter up! It says...NOTHING! BLANK!!" *He opens it up and the paper has what seems to be an ancient script of some kind. A Play, perhaps? Amara takes the blood dripped cloak off.....* *Noting his disgust at the blood....* "Oh, that? Poor bastard. Its not MY blood...idiot hit me with a man hole cover! All I was trying to do was get a little food before bed! My mother as a small child told me not to play in the sewer,...and I never listened. Sure enough,...as I pop my head up through the manhole...WHAM!!! God, it hurt, I think." *The expression in her eyes seems to turn back to the paper...* *Taking Elijah aside....* "I've had that envelope for a long time. Truth be told...It was handed to me right after I recieved the Embrace. 31 years ago..." *taking the letter...* "Ah...let me see what I've held on to for so long...I do assume its yours? I was strictly forbidden to open it. Something about me being chosen to bring in the new something or other with another Kindred that was sired by the same as I." *Smacks Elijah on back mockingly* "Big news, eh?" *winks...* "This is gonna bake your noodle for a while, won't it...?" *chuckles......looks around and strokes her wounded cheek....* "And to think no one even invited me...I'd use the old "girl cant play?" thing, but Voracia...well...I've never been to good with the boys...hehe...considering I usually end up killing them all....hehehehe...." *bows to Voracia* "Hats off....I've always hated the popular girls,...but maybe we can get together and braid our hair?" *cackles wildly,...while giving Voracia a smile of genuine friendship...* ------------------ Altiriel Twice-Born "It must have been a figure of speech. Altiriel Twice-Born, childe of Zadkiel, descendant of Saulot, at your service." Darkana1 Ohh the chessboard has been
moved, I think it works better down here, keeps everything in one place,
Darkana of the Lasombra not at your service but willing to help, for a price....... My if only we had Mage here, what he would make of this place, Paradox running rampant and a definite feeling of thought shaping the universe, for a time I was active in the mytic age long ago, before a little hibernation, inthose days mages could bend the universe until it snapped, one mage I remember destroyed a village in a pillar of fire much like a nuclear blast, how? He simply concetrated on the effect he wanted, same as if he wanted to fly he would will the universe into letting him, of course I accidentally got talking with him on time, a nice debate until he put us outside time and pushed us backwards 4 hours. since then i never debate time. the reason we have science and technology is the technocracy those technomages decided to make the world one thing that was certain so they brought science a set of rules which made people believe that was how the world works, once belief was formed that became the way the world works, so pray they never find us or this place, for surely they would try to destroy the hall and all within for massive deviation from their paradigm, I mean they do call us reality deviants dont they. ------------------ Voracia "Popularity can be absolute murder." Lady Amara We Malks do march to a different
drummer, I admit, but I seek to be accepted and to stop skipping around
the edges of this delicate society. Stormcaller "I don't know it might be interesting to see a mage try to take this place apart. I think who, or whatever, made this place is in no mood to have his/her plaything destroyed so I think that it would fight. If it even needed to do that. (To Elijah) "So Slayer what does the note say. It was made specifically for you so it must be something important.Looks and Lady Amara and remembers her clan On the other hand. ------------------ Voracia "As for me, I had something I started to do and got sidetracked by the artful rhetoric of men. So, if you'll please excuse me, I take my leave...nice meeting you." Another courtsey, and she's off towards the massive spiral staircase at the far end of the room. Lady Amara To Stormcaller "What has my clansmen done that has made everyone so hostile to me? Can I say nothing the Raven has told me without persecution? Are the tasks I've been destined to carryout somehow less in nature than others as cursed as me?" ------------------ Gwynhala "This could be VERY useful." *said to nobody in particular* *he takes the book and follows the coterie as they carry the chess board, pieces, hourglass, and the table on which these stood, to the Great Hall* Elijah Robert Marks "I don't understand it. It's written in some old language, and it's not Hebrew or Greek, so I'm out of luck." He then looks at Amara. "You say you were given this 31 years ago? I must have been two or three years old then... that doesn't make sense. "And you say we have the same sire? I suppose that makes you my half-sister. My much stronger half-sister... who can throw me about like rag doll..." He rubs his neck, remembering their earlier encounter. ------------------ Elijah Robert Marks Lady Amara Elijah, my friend...can you not understand the hostility now? We can talk. We're all brothers and sisters here, we don't even know for sure if any of this is for real. Lets find out what the hell that note says...I have a feeling someone here can read this script..... Amara looks around curiously.. If this is true...then you are infact a Malk, as you suspected. You are still very young, so the Truth hasn't truly gripped you yet. Tell me this...do you find yourself in a daze for hours at a time? A sharp pain followed by a loss in short term memory? Anything at all having to do with Ravens? Think...and observe...the Truth is near for you. ------------------ Krouser "Why do I feel like I've had this conversation before? And why is it that every Tkele-cho-gi Tzimice thinks that having fangs and an acute iron deficiency makes them better than human." *Looks to Amber, as he walks behind the bar." "Like I told your clansmen, I am no less human now than I was before the embrace, and I am no more inhuman for being a vampire. Being Kindred changes you, but it is clearly a condition of humanity." ------------------ Krouser Daimon to Locke, Tzimice Bishop Neuromortis
Posit...ACCEPTED, Captain Needa. Stormcaller "I am most sorry that my comments caused such saddness m'lady. I mearly meant that sometimes the profound wisdom that those of your clan choose to share isn't as useful as it could be because those that you give it to are unable to understand it. If I have offended then I am most sorry." OOC:btw, the name is David. I know it is sort of confusing with the username being different but can't be helped, sorry. ------------------ Lady Amara You are wise beyond your days, sir... returns the bow ------------------ Sudsaroo
It isn't the fangs nor the iron deficiency that makes me better than humans. But the ability to live forever, to continue learning and to rise up from the feble limitations that come from humanity. Yes I have forsaken my humanity. I've lost it long ago. I have killed everyone one of my pray for some 1000 years if you choose to belive that. And Elijh one day you will come to accept as I have, that all of your pondering and searching will amount to nothing. Better to act and do as you will now and blindly believe that you are doing things of your own volition. But I digress. I present to you a more pressing problem which affect all kindred. The sun. The book of NOD speaks this about the sun's effect on Kindred and its origin. quote: And I said to Raphael Raphael cursed me, saying -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, from that it's pretty easy to tell that God basically cursed us all by making the sun deadly. In the dark ages this explanation was enough. But with the advent of technology and medicine this just doesn't cut it for me anymore. We are beginning to see the Sun's rays burn humans! Why? UV radiation. Albeit it never kills them, except for the odd case of cancer. But could Ultra Violet rays be the same thing that causes our sudden death in the light of the sun. Perhaps UV rays is the scientific explanation for our "alergy". Maybe a protection of some kind, say Sun Block with UV protection 10 000 could be developed that would allow us to stand in the sun, without taking harm. Have none of you missed the sun. The way it twinkles off of morning dew, the way it rises and sets. The blue of the sky, the warmth of it and the way it warms everything it touches. After over a millenia I can say that I miss the sun, more than anything else, and would like to develop some sort of protection. So that I may walk the earth in daylight, for at least one day. -Amber Lady Amara
You forsake your humanity but desire to enjoy the blessing that only a human can enjoy. I do not seek to challenge your points or your personal convictions about humanity, but I do challenge you to try to be in touch with the small part of humanity left in all of us. Same goes for you, Elijah. ------------------ Stormcaller "Miss the sun? Of course
I miss the sun. Not as much now as I once did but yes I miss the sun.
Now that motion pictures are popular one is able to view a sunrise ,even
if it isn't as good as I seem to remember the real thing being it is still
something to stir emotions. About your supposition about UV being the
killer of our kind. You either forget or don't know that many types of
artificial light produce UV radiation." ------------------ Elijah Robert Marks "That was one of my less successful gigs. "Oh and Amber, I know you've been alive for so long that you're convinced you know how the future of a 2-month old vampire will ultimately turn out, but I'm not the kind of person who stops believing in choices. If I was I'd have stayed up to see the sun rise one last time after my first week like this." ------------------ Gwynhala "Hmmm...what if it WASN'T just a figure of speech when the Tall Man called you his progeny? The library of this house is well-stocked and I've been doing some reading" *brandishes book found in tea room, ANTEDILUVIANS AND THE LINEAGE OF CAINE* "If Elijah is indeed of Malkavian, and you are, as I gather from your countenance and that part of your lineage you have shared, of Salubri - quite remarkable, I have never met one of your kin - you are descended from the same Antediluvian. For Enoch, if this account can be trusted, was sire to both Saulot and Malkav." *pauses, contemplating the unthinkable* "Many things in this hall are not as they seem. But if the Tall Man spoke truth when he addressed you as his childer, and accepting the argument I have made concerning Enoch, the Tall Man must be... Enoch?" *pauses again, nearly overwhelmed* *he speaks more softly, somberly* "...or Caine." *another pause* "Or, at least, someone would have us think so." Lady Amara Oh, God, ...that sends me down a huge spiral...Oh, God, Oh, God, Oh, God... goes off into a corner to mutter to herself... ------------------ Nikodemus "However, I have been partially crispy crittered by the sun a few times...which makes me very reluctant to go back out there."
