Standing in the frame of the doorway was an uncommonly tall and thin man, in formal dress with a cane and top hat. He was staring at Elijah with a half-smile that ended abruptly at the borders of his mouth.

The Tall Man is an enigma -- he appeared in the Great Hall once, to cloud Elijah Mark's mind and force him to forget the room he'd recently found (explained in events) and a second time to drop hints concerning the meaning behind the chessboard.

According to Voracia he is the Lord of the Great Hall, and has used the Great Hall as a trap with which to feed on what he catches... after a fashion. Whether he has built the Great Hall and it is truly his, or he is simply another resident, albeit one with great knowledge and control over it, remains unknown.

The Tall Man appears to be an uncommonly tall and thin elderly man, with silvery-grey hair, clean shaven, grey eyes. He dresses formally, in a fashion that is not what one would call "modern."
