Hound (Kuei-jin Akuma, Searing Wind)
...and corpse dust shall be your perfume.

Description:
Akuma.

Outsider.

Gaijin.

Mad?

The one known as Hound in the west, Akuma Gou, ye liang xin in the east, strikes an imposing figure. Towering over even westerners, he was taken as a giant in his homelands of Vietnam and Korea. His soul, half oriental, found itself cursed with the body of his occidental self. His dead body, only slightly better suited to Yin, was healthy in life, Limber, well muscled, and capable of sustained exertion. With a prominant figure, he naturally moves with the self assured confidence of one willing to obtain his desire by any means. Absolutely any means.

His demenor, as suiting a cleaved soul, is at times so simple and direct as to be crude, and at others, so reasoned and poetic as a scholor. The world finds him disturbing, by dint of his constant nihilistic facination with the morbid. This facination ranges from the mortal dead, to poison, to weaponry, to the kindred he lives among.

Background:
Robert Bolten was an upright man. An outstanding son of Missisouri, risen above his family history as a country bumpkin, he attended the country's higher institues of learning, studying liturature, philosophy, poetry, and the reasoning of the higher self. Convinced that there had to be a structure, an order to the mind's development into an enlightened state. His keen perception and sharp mind existed in sharp contrast to his physical form, hardened by years of work on his family's farm

Heyuri Renoki was an innocent child when the vietcong killed his family, and inducted him into their services. After several years of indoctrination, his mind was gripped by their propaganda machine, and he became precisely what they wanted him to be. A hardened soul, willing to kill for the state. If anything, his fellow geurillas were disturbed by his zealous fanaticism, his devotion to killing the 'barbarian dogs'.

Even as Robert Bolten was drafted into the United States military, Renoki was discarding the last of his moral inhibitions in geurilla warfare. They both thrived in their new enviroments. Robert, on the refined asian mysticism and philosophy as he recieved training in Saigon. Renoki on the chance to kill, again and again, those he had been taught to hate.

It was a cruel twist of fate that death should met them both in a single appointment.

Soon after Robert was sent, 'condemned' as he put it, to the front, his squad encountered a geurilla ambush. Renoki, displaying an almost otherworldly tenacity, survived in the midst of a raging firefight, even as Robert Bolten confronted the harsh realities of war. Renoki fell upon him, a knife in one hand, a live grenade in the other. In his trademark execution, Renoki cut a deep gash in Robert's chest, and prepared to thrust the grenade into it, when a morter threw them both to the ground. The grenade detonated in Renoki's hand, mangling his body. In a desperate attempt to live, Renoki's Hun, his higher self, interned itself in Robert's corpse.

While both of their P'os, their inner demons awakened by the conflict, decended to the Yomi world. Hell. As two demons, they distinguished themselves as gladiators in the arena of the Yama kings. They were called to an audiance with Hen Ju Togu, a lesser Yama king.

There, Hen Ju Togu made a decree.

"I will bind you together, and make you stronger. Then, I will break you to my will, until you are nothing more than my hunting hound."

It was so done.

Character Perceptions:
Hound has been to hell. He has faced harsher challenges than any of his 'fellow' kuei-jin, and survived. He looks at the world with detached intrest, embracing his Dharmic path, the Howl of the Devil Tiger. His passion exists in living up to his inner demon, putting on its garb, and harnessing its power as Raksha. His foil lies in his ever continuing quest to exempt himself from Kuei-jin ways, the manipulation of the Yama kings, and make a place for himself. A place where he can belong. Even away from Kuei-jin society, he remains dedicated to his Dharmic path, hoping one day to trancend the middle world, and return to the karmic cycle. He revels in the devil he can be, but on occasion, he suprises even himself with his consideration for others. These are rare occasions indeed.
