On the surface, an Elysium of unsurpassed splendor. Beneath, something sinister lurks...

Vash
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(OOC Yeah... but I just had to make an Ahab the Arab joke... ahhh that felt good :P /OOC)

*Vash smiles and waves his hand at David*

Ahhh, no thanks... I'm just chalking the mystery of this place up to termites. Spooky termites.

Stormcaller
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Termites huh, I didn't know termites played chess. I guess they must be a new breed from deep in the amazon rain forests. Well to each his own I guess."

------------------
I have forgoten my past, now if only it would forget me.-David

Elijah Robert Marks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Termites sound as reasonable an explanation as anything else I've heard tonight... including Gwynhala's idea that the Tall Man is Cain."

Elijah takes one last look at the hallway, sighs, and starts looking through the bookcase and the books on the table, muttering to himself.

"You know, when I first got here I thought this place was an Elysium. Now I think that even if it is, it's rather closely connected with Gehenna as well."

------------------
I didn't hate the kindred; I just hunted them. Then they found me, and then I became them.

Voracia
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Behold the the moon. We are cursed by the sun, but not by the moon, yet they shine with the same light. The meaning of that is not in words.

What next - do we jump, or go within?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whispers to self soft and streaming flow, eyes close and blot the moonlight.

"It is a poor substitute--would you desire a kiss from your lover's second?"

Arms extended wide, leaning impossibly into the buffeting cushion of untroustworthy element...

"'Sure of what we hope for, certain of what we do not see...'...is that not what the man from Tarsus put to pen?"

And now the eyes divert, Gwynhala beholding and beholden for the first time in direct, unshielded contact with

((The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times."
And he went outside and wept bitterly.))

eyes containing such overhwelming

((The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay."))

multitude of emotions that the breath joins the outpouring of wind, spiralling down and down and out into the null and his own eyes grow wide for those moments as he grasps and finds security in the solid reality of the windowframe. A breath retrieved from the tumult, he understands new presence in the room behind--

--as she turns, pirouette, in the gentle confines of Wind's embrace, to face the room lit solely by the embers of stubborn Fire.

"It's about time they awaken, no?"

Inhalation. Then, into the room, overpowering the gale, she speaks without the benefit of voice for all to hear:

"ARE YOU READY!?!?"

Elijah Robert Marks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A voice comes out of nowhere:
ARE YOU READY???

Elijah drops the book he was paging through in surprise, an uncharacteristically vile word escapes his lips.

The words seem to come from no particular direction, and hang in the air.

Elijah looks angry. He closes his eyes, and in an instant all emotion is gone from his face. He opens his eyes again, and his expression is one of calculation.

"I doubt I'll ever truly be ready. However..."

------------------
I didn't hate the kindred; I just hunted them. Then they found me, and then I became them.

Vash
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Vash lays against a wall with his eyes closed. He raises his arm lazily and waves his hand*

Sure sure...

*He opens one eye, looking around the room*

Who said that?

Stormcaller
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ARE YOU READY?

David hears the voice in his head and hurridly turns around to face the window

"What the..."

He then hears Gwynhala cry out and at the edges of his vision he sees a faint golden aura which he seems to remember but can't place.

"What is going on here? Did anyone else hear or see anything strange just now?"

David starts toward the window to see what is going on and to see if there is anything he can do.

edit: I have changed this post because of what Gwynhala posted after.
------------------
I have forgoten my past, now if only it would forget me.-David

Gwynhala
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*upon meeting voracia's gaze, gwynhala takes the following instinctive actions in rapid sequence*

1) motions with hands to make the sign of the cross against his body

2) cries out in pain, the cry will be heard easily by those in the room and might easily be associated by the coterie with something Voracia has DONE TO HIM.

3) exudes fully unmasked True Faith causing a creepy, oompa-loompa vibe and desire to move away from the window in anyone with willpower lower than 10; this will coincide with Voracia's question, "ARE YOU READY?"

4) falls to his knees, still outside on the ledge of the window, bracing himself against the frame of the window.

OOC:
Sorry friends. I HATE when this happens. But the eyes are the mirror of the soul.

BTW I think I am technically outside Elysium at this moment - but all others, including Voracia who has moved into the room, are still in it. Neuro, if that mitigates anything, please jump in - my actions are the same. LOL

Elijah Robert Marks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ooc/ Willpower 10??? You're not giving us a lot of room to roleplay here, you'd have to be someone like Caine in order to resist faith of that magnitude... /ooc

Upon hearing Gwynhala's cry, Elijah immediately rushes over to the window. Upon reaching the window, however, a look of horror crosses his face and backpedals across the room until he hits the far wall, then sinks to the ground, cowering.

------------------
I didn't hate the kindred; I just hunted them. Then they found me, and then I became them.

Krouser
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*on the wind, notes drift into the hall, raising in volume, until it seems the source is in the room, standing next to the wall. when the occupants look, they see Krouser, finishing a melody on a carved wooden flute. He tucks the flute away, and raises his eyes to met their collective gaze.*

"Sorry I'm late, I had to make a stop down in Buenos Aries."

*his eyes close on the window, as the wind picks up.*

"Nilichii is calling. His voice is strong, he calls the creatures of night, and the creatures of morning, to contest for dominion over the day."

Elijah Robert Marks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Elijah does not actually notice Krouser enter the room, he is overcome by the true faith radiating from Gwynhala on the ledge... though Krouser wouldn't necessarily know this, all he'd see is Elijah cowering against the wall for some reason.)

------------------
I didn't hate the kindred; I just hunted them. Then they found me, and then I became them.

Stormcaller
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally reaches the window just after Elijah runs feels the effects of True Faith. After looking to see if Elijah is unhurt David looks out of the window to see Gwynhala on his knees and Voracia turning to face the window.

(Yelled)

"Gwynhala are you okay? What has happened? I can't reach you because Voracia is in the way so if you are unhurt would you kindly tell me so I don't do end up doing anything stupid."

Hears Krouser enter the room and turns to speak to him

"Krouser would you check to see if Elijah is going to be okay. I am not sure what just happened but both Gwynhala and Voracia are out on the ledge and I think Gwynhala may be hurt."

Turns back to the window and begins to think of a way to get Gwynhala back even if Voracia is still in a trance.

(To self)

"To bad I can't fly. Now that would be a stereotype that would be useful right now."

As he finishes speaking to himself Voracia enters the room in a sort of trance.

"Well now we can go out and get him and maybe find out what has happened."

------------------
I have forgoten my past, now if only it would forget me.-David

Gwynhala
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OOC:
LOL Elijah if its any consolation I really did roll Faith ten-sided dice vs Willpower to keep it fair and several 10s came up. Now I rolled once for the whole party, not against individual players, for expediency. The answer might just has easily have been 5, or 3, had the lot been cast differently. It will be a different threshold every time the way I did it.

Since G. also does not have willpower 10 and made the sign of the cross against his own body, he took several levels of AGGRAVATED damage at his own hands when True Faith manifested. So he will likely be a bit of a mess when you are able to approach him. And to make it worse, he's a Brujah so he had to check for frenzy after that much aggravated dammage. Can you say, "mixed blessing?" There are some things blood just can't fix.

We should decide how we want to RP this. I mean, if I said, "you're repelled unless you're really, really baaaaad", half the people in the room would say, "I be bad. I be bad" and just blow it off.

V. knows what her eyes can do, she knows something about G., and she chose to look him in the eye. Her eyes did what they do, and G's soul did what it does. And there is action - and a rather funny potential for misunderstanding of V. - as a result.

What I did was based on the description of True Faith in the Dark Ages book (pp. 236-237). If I have treated anyone unfairly in this, I fully repent. Tell me a better way.

STORMCALLER - It's pretty cool if David resisted - or did not even sense - True Faith repulsion at the level I wrote. It reveals something about him - but what?

End OOC.

Vash
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Vash watches Elijah cower against the wall. He frowns and brings his legs up to his chest, then mumbles to himself*

Just out of range...

*Noticing Krouser enter, Vash waves and smiles*

Hey, Mr. Krouser! Good timing, something spooky is going on and I think Miss Voracia has something to do with it.

Krouser
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*walks over to Elijah, bearing the true faith, (assuming it's still radiating) and kneeling. He takes Eli's chin in one hand, and slaps him lightly, until he's calmed down.*

"Com'on man, what did I tell you. Look past his blind faith. It's his will that's doing this to you. I know you man, You're like me. Your will is stronger. Just take a look, inside yourself, and tell yourself you don't give a damn."

Elijah Robert Marks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ooc/ Cripes! How many 10 willpower people are hanging around here anyway! /ooc

Elijah listens to Krouser chastise him, and then snarls.

"That's easy for you to say."

He seems to be trying to fight off frenzy.

ooc/ Elijah really doesn't have a willpower of 10, or anything close to it. When I designed him I pictured him as having a strong will, but apparently I wasn't thinking on the right scale of things. Cest la guerre... /ooc

I didn't hate the kindred; I just hunted them. Then they found me, and then I became them.

Sudsaroo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ooc: Okay! I go to sleep for the night and look what happens! Now if you'll excuse me I'll have to back some things up so that it doesn't seem like I"m just standing there while all of these things are happening. /ooc

*Vash Enters and Bows to Amber, Amber hand catches his shoulders and gently forces him to stand again*

Please Vash, do not bow to me. I've done nothing to deserve it and should rather have a slap for that display back there.

ARE YOU READY?!?!?!?!

*Amber looks up towards the roof*

*Her eyes widen with a sort of horror*

*She opens her arms straight out to the side, and unknowingly to her they begin to grow, along with her fingers*

*She whispers*

yes

*G unleashes her True Faith and although Amber is out of range it effects her.*

IEERRAAGGAGGHHH!!!!!!

*Amber recoils and is flung back against the wall with her own strength. Her arms stretch even more and surround her body, protecting her face and her legs and she cowers in the corner*

Please, please! Dear God, how? How have you manifested yourself in this child of Caine? ARGH! The pain.

OOC/ Although Amber has a lot of willpower I'm making her pain come from the fact that she has only a shred of humanity left /OOC

-Amber

Sudsaroo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Ambers long limbs claw at the floor*

*She manages to get up and stares in shock at the window, the backs of her wrists are scraping the ground*

*The horror once again races across her face as she pushes everyone out of her way and runs crazily into the hallway again*

*Amber runs in a mad panic through the mad catacombs of the hallway until THUMP, she runs into a a large wooden door with a strange ensignia on it*

*The sign is the old family symbol of her family from before Christ was born*

*She stares in awe at the door*

how?

*Ambers arms shrink back to their normal size as she reaches for the handle and slowly opens the door, she enters this pitch black place, more confused before*

/ooc for the rest of this little story, check the post Amber's Room http://www.nihilistic.com/mboard/Forum12/HTML/000088.html

-Amber

Sudsaroo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*A door opens and Amber enters. She is crying and tears are falling down her face. She makes no attempt to hide this. Her arms are now normally sized. She walks over to a chair and crawls up in it. Sobbing sadly and softly she continues to cry. The door closes*

-Amber

Altiriel Twice-Born
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Altiriel enters the room. He takes three steps in and immediately stops, staring at the open window.

"Not blind...he understands."

His eyes gaze unblinkingly at the window--source of the aura that permeates the room. He shakes his head sadly as he stares.

"He understands..."

Stormcaller
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Yes the fact that David is able to approach the window does reveal something doesn't it. BTW, there are ways to resist that don't neccesarily have use willpower in a direct way but I won't bring those up now because one of them may reveal more about my character than I am ready to yet. Oh, and David did notice the True Faith aura only he didn't know for sure what it was.

David looks out of the window and notices that the golden aura seems to get stronger around Gwynhala. David also notices that Gwynhala seems to be hurt quite a bit so he begins to go out of the window.

"I hope the sun doesn't come up while we are out here because I don't think he can take much more and live."

(From Ledge outside window, yelled to Gwynhala)

"Can you hear me? Are you able to move closer to the window?

------------------

darndarndarn
brithday party gotta go to NOW and THIS is happening grrrr

I'll retro-post tonight
<--------lew-hew zur-hur

PS you see the Dies Irae prologue?
/ooc

Gwynhala
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Lord, grant that I may take leave of this unconsecrated body."

"David, is that you? Do not come near me - I am unworthy."

"Lord, grant that I may take leave of this unconsecrated body. Lord have mercy on my soul."

"Kyrie, eleison. Pax huic domui. Amen."

(OOC: Latin, "Lord have mercy. Peace to this house. Amen.")

*still on his knees, g. trembles as he speaks the words. slowly, he regains his composure. the aura of true faith recedes. he turns toward david and crawls, with some assistance from david and obviously seriously wounded in the head and chest, back into the tea room*

(to Voracia, audible to all)

"Lady, what are you, that in your eyes I see my very soul?"

(to coterie)

"Friends, do not think ill of Voracia. My wounds are self-inflicted - the product of a true faith in God that persists in me even after my embrace so long ago. I do not spend much time among our kind because of it. And if any of you would have me leave the coterie because of it, say so and I shall oblige. For now we are in Elysium. But out there..."

*gwynhala motions to the window and the sea without*

"...it is very different"

Stormcaller
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(To Gwynhala)

"I can't speak for the others but I for one still wish for you to remain with us. Like the rest of us you were drawn to this place for a reason and that means that you have may have some information that will help us solve this problem. And beside that you aren't a bad person(vampire?) and you didn't mean to do what you did so I can't hold it against you.
